Journalism Hero
In April, 2010 Lydia Cacho Ribeiro was the 55th world press freedom hero for her reports on domestic violence, child prostitution, organized crime and political corruption. But her doing this did come with some consequences. She have received numerous death threats and been attacked for following these stories. Lyndia Cacho began her career in the mid-1980's for the newspapers Novedades de Cancum. In the 1990, she wrote about the prostitution of Cuban and Argentine girls, domestic violence, and sexual abuse.

Current Situation In Mexico

The Mexican police force is facing there biggest challenge yet with the drug cartels. The drug cartels new tactics in transporting drugs are making a home made tank like vehicle. The Zetas cartel would face Combating marines, federal police, and other cartels, with theses customized trucks known as “monstros,” or monsters, that could withstand machine-gun fire and grenades. Taking down one of these tanks are a huge achievement for the police force because of large amount of contraband that is taken away from the drug cartels.

Examples of censorship



An example of censorship in Mexico is that there is censorship related to the drug war or cartels in Mexico. Thousands of journalist in Mexico have written about the cartels. Some of the reporters of these articles have been killed by the cartels.

Government/Constitution

The government of Mexico is a democracy. The leader of Mexico is Enrique Pena Nieto. The government of Mexico is similar to the government of the United States of America. The Mexican constitution was made in 1917 when there president was upset about revolution and civil upheaval. So he made a modern constitution which stated that “the restoration of lands to native peoples, the separation of church and state, and dramatic economic and educational reforms’’.

International Code of Practice for the Safe Conduct of Journalism


My country follows this code for the safety of the writers. The writers could face may different challenges from people who want to harm them such as "shunned by colleagues, they could be threatened, victims of physical assaults, or become another lethal attack victim". These codes are made to protect the writers from any of these things.
